ActivArmor Digital Medical Solution

Offer ActivArmor in your Clinic

A safe and touch-free 30 second 3D body image scan is taken of the patient's limb, and a custom brace is made specifically for the patient's unique injury or condition or lifestyle. Removable (like a splint) or fixed (like a cast), physicians are using ActivArmor for both acute injuries and chronic conditions. The exact fit allows the tissues to remain in the desired  position for optimal rest and healing, and observation or treatment of skin, post-surgical hardware and incisions are performed easily. the custom design gives doctors the freedom to immobilize or expose ANY specific area, which in not possible with prefabricated devices.

A Quick Turnaround! –  Patients requiring immobilization for acute injuries without swelling, for chronic conditions, and sports support can be scanned immediately, and will receive their ActivArmor device in as little as 2 business days, allowing them to continue with normal lifestyle activities while healing.

Patients with acute injuries and those requiring post-operative immobilization often have edema, and are placed into a temporary compression splint or bi-valved cast for a few days until their follow-up appointment. Once the swelling has gone down, the patient can then be scanned and returned to their temporary solution until their ActivArmor device comes. ActivArmor allows patients to return to more normal lifestyle activities from the post-edema phase of healing through the typical post-cast splinting phase.

NOTE: Some Physician's specialize in upper body OR lower body extremities - and may not /prescribe for limbs and/or injuries that are outside of their specialization. Check with ActivArmor Canada for recommendations.

ActivArmor Medical/Healthcare Team

Dr. Karim Ravji

Dr. Karim Ravji is a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) specializing in both the surgical and non-surgical treatment of foot and ankle disorders. This includes foot and ankle trauma, surgery, biomechanics, diabetes, dermatology, and infection. He obtained a Bachelor of Science undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto, followed by Graduate School in the US culminating in training and a surgical residency in the department of orthopedics at Yale University School of Medicine, Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation..

"Activarmor casts and braces are an amazing breakthrough in healthcare technology that can affect so many people! The casts are light, airy and breathable allowing less bacterial colonization of the skin.  You can monitor surgical incision sites for healing or open wounds.  You can apply bone stimulators to the skin to heal underlying fractures faster.  And best of all, the high end ABS plastic used in the casts make them recyclable!  Finally a solution to fracture immobilization that diverts used casts from landfills; just throw the used cast into your blue bin!!  Such a simple and elegant idea with a huge reach"

Carl Murray, LPN, Ortho Tech

Carl Murray is a Licensed Practical Nurse with Advanced Education in Orthopedics. His primary professional role has been to apply casts and splints to patients who need immobilization for broken limbs, so he brings many relevant skills to ActivArmor Canada Inc.!

He brings over 7 years of combined nursing/orthopedic tech experience from working on orthopedic trauma units and in various emergency departments in Calgary. In addition, he is a Certified ActivArmor Scanning Tech!

"I have a passion for orthopedics and believe ActivArmor casts allow my patients to live the high quality life they are used to, even when dealing with the unfortunate event of a broken limb."

    ActivArmor Scanning Procedures

    Forearm Scan

Using the TechMed3D BodyScan Scanner, a provider is conducting a typical forearm scan for a patient. This scan provides a precision detailed image of the limb, which allows our prothesis designer to create a one of a kind cast/splint custom fitted to a 0.5mm tolerance.

    AFO Scan (Ankle Foot Orthoses)

In this video, a provider, using a specially designed footboard, and the TechMed BodyScan Scanner, is obtaining a precision image of the ankle foot region of a patient. This will allow the creation of a form fitted ankle/foot lower leg cast/splint (non-weight bearing).

    ActivArmor Scanning App!

Now available! The newly created ActivArmor App for scanning of forearms/wrists/hands, using an iPhone! (10 or newer). Scan can be conducted by physician or assistant (prescription for ActivArmor Cast/Splint with design specific requirements must be issued). Scan file is then uploaded directly to ActivArmor for design and fabrication, and couriered back to the provider's clinic.
